Peter's Profile
I was born in the Horowhenua district of New Zealand, a rural setting, developing a love of the outdoors at an early age. I spent my youth fishing and tramping the region. My first trout was a river dwelling brown, and the first on a fly was a spring creek rainbow at the age of nine.
Spending much of my youth fishing and tramping the hill country rivers of my home region, I soon developed a passion for fishing small streams for sophisticated browns, a passion that still prevails to this day.
Frequent trips to other fisheries inevitably followed. These trips included the Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Taupo regions. My overseas experience has included fly-fishing in British Columbia, Canada, for rainbows, steelhead and salmon. In 1995 my wife, Tina, our two children and I moved to Taupo where I joined Chris Jolly Outdoors as a full time professional guide, guiding clients from New Zealands world class retreat, Huka Lodge.
In 1998 I established my own independent guiding business, guiding both experienced and novice anglers from around the world, including clientele from the internationally renown Tongariro Lodge. Developing an intimate knowledge of the Taupo region and the surrounding district has ensured the success of my business, the quality of the experience being the emphasis.
I view guiding as a privilege and the opportunity to create, possibly the highlight of your New Zealand visit, a thrill beyond imagination. Join me for a memorable experience during a season of your choice...come visit my world.
