Fly Fishing Guide - Peter's Profile
Born in rural New Zealand with mountains & trout fishing rivers at my doorstep I quickly developed a passion for the outdoors at an early age. Exploring & fishing my home regions brown trout rivers & streams my fly fishing adventure began early at the age of nine.
My first ever trout, a red spotted brownie lured from under the willows, my first rainbow trout a spring creek fish that rose to a dry fly while fishing the evening rise. The lure of NZ's Taupo waters soon became a fascination in those early years & frequent fishing trips occurred to internationally renowned rivers like the Tongariro, one memorable moment a five pound Tongariro rainbow on my second cast ever in these waters. Overseas fishing experience has included fly-fishing in British Columbia Canada for rainbows & steelhead. In 1995 my wife Tina, our two children & I moved to Lake Taupo in the North Island of New Zealand where I joined 'Chris Jolly Outdoors' as a professional fly fishing guide, guiding clients from New Zealand's world class retreat 'Huka Lodge'.
In 1998 I established my own fly fishing business, guiding experienced, novice anglers and beginners from around the world. Developing an intimate knowledge of the Taupo region and its surrounding district has ensured the success of my business, the quality of the experience being the emphasis. Today a fly fishing guide in the Taupo region for twenty years my passion for NZ's small streams & wilderness rivers still remains. I view being a fly fishing guide as a huge priviledge, the opportunity to create the highlight of your New Zealand visit.Over the winter months I also work part time for the ' Department of Conservation ' who manage the Taupo fishery, my work here involved with fish trap operations & occasionaly ranger duties on the Taupo rivers. Join me for a memorable trout fishing New Zealand experience during a season of your choice...come visit my world.
